This meeting is being called in accordance with the UAW Region 6 Retiree Council By-Laws to update and share information needed in assisting our members and to highlight current activities and plans UAW Region 6 and the UAW International Union are actively involved in and leading.

The meeting is also scheduled so our UAW Region 6 Retirees can personally meet and hear directly from each other about their area membership needs and recent activities.

We welcome everyone as we continue to recognize the contributions our Retiree members make with support and personal involvement since UAW Region 6 was founded. We encourage all Retiree leadership to attend this meeting and take back all the information to your membership.

Rally for California Science

Rally for California Science

On May 4th, thousands of scientists and community members will rally in Sacramento to demand that Governor Gavin Newsom place the California Health & Science Research Bond on the 2026 ballot.

The California Health & Science Research Bond Act (SB 895) is a bill that would place a bond on the November 2026 ballot to fund life-saving research at California institutions that is at risk of being cut by the Trump Administration. Scientists, clinicians, educators, public servants, and community members are fighting back and demanding that Californians, not the federal government, prioritize what research is funded.

SB 895 is supported by a broad and growing coalition including the United Auto Workers (UAW), the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD), the University of California, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research, and the ALS Society.

The bill has over 40 legislative co-authors and is supported by Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis and Treasurer Fiona Ma. You can learn more at SaveScienceSaveLives.com

Region 6 Political Action & Leadership Conference

Please join the 2026 Region 6 Political Action and Leadership Conference, April 25-26, in Pico Rivera, California.

Working people today find ourselves at a critical inflection point. In the first year of its second term, the Trump administration has dramatically escalated its work to enrich billionaires off the backs of working people, including by gutting lifesaving research funding and healthcare, expanding ICE’s budget and lawless attacks on our communities, escalating global conflict, and more.

The time is now for working people to build a movement to reshape our economy and society to benefit workers instead of billionaires and elites – to prioritize affordable communities, job security, safety and dignity at work, and a sustainable future, and to advance the solidarity of working people across race, gender, nationality, and beyond.

At the 2026 Political Action and Leadership Conference, members from across Region 6 will come together to take on this urgent task. In the coming year, there will be a number of critical opportunities for UAW members to build the powerful worker-led movement needed to meet this moment, including the UAW Constitutional Convention, member-driven legislation to expand research funding and collective bargaining rights, midterm elections, contract campaigns, new organizing campaigns, and more. All members are encouraged to join the conference to take an active role in building a powerful path forward.
